GROUP THERAPY

Group Therapy

Group Therapy setting offers healing for individuals, couples, families, and groups of survivors. There is a solidarity and a natural support system that emerges through the sharing and relating done in groups.

There is a certain magic in Group Therapy—the kind of healing that only happens when we are surrounded and supported by those who really get what it’s like to be in our shoes: people who’ve experienced similar trauma and loss and faced the same fears and stigma.

There is a melting, a shedding, a catharsis that happens in a group setting that’s matchless, powerful and healing.

Support Groups at Manhattan Marriage and Family Therapy Center are facilitated by Susan Flynn, LCSW, an experienced group therapist who will lead and provide therapeutic guidance, tools, and resources to participants.

Groups are open to the public and meet weekly ongoing. Sessions are offered on weekends and evenings after 8pm.  Each group is $50.  For information call 917-510-6422 or e-mail at info@manhattanmft.com.

Manhattan Marriage and Family Therapy Center is pleased to offer the following group counseling programs:

Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group
Thursdays, 8-9pm at MMFT
Starting October 22, 2015
Download Flyer

This group offers the opportunity to let out your fears, tears, and thoughts as you go through the diagnostic, treatment and aftercare process of Breast Cancer. This group will provide a safe and nurturing environment shared with others who understand questions like:

Why do I feel embarrassed to tell anyone I have cancer....?
Will I lose my job?
Why am I feeling such gloom and doom when I know there are so many promising treatments available?
Why am I feeling so alone?

Topics covered include:  common symptoms and comforting methods, where to ask medication questions, how to talk with friends, family and coworkers, diet comforts, and common obstacles to making tough decisions.  The group is facilitated by Susan Flynn, LCSW, an experienced group therapist and a Breast Cancer survivor herself who
knows firsthand how lonely and debilitating it can be to deal with this diagnosis.

For more information about this group please e-mail us at info@manhattanmft.com or call at 917-510-6422.
