Finding Hope

Therapeutic Approach:

Therapy should be a safe and positive space to unpack life’s journey. It is a place where clients and therapists form an alliance to work together to fulfill the client’s goals. I like to pull from narrative, solution focused, and emotionally focused therapy. With narrative therapy we get to explore your personal story and find the changes that you want to make. With solution focused we can create small and larger goals to help us get to the big picture every client dreams of. With emotionally focused therapy we can get down to the feelings behind each story and action. This helps us explore the true meaning behind some of these negative events in our life that we want to change. Every client is different and no two stories are the same. That is the beauty of life and therapy, together we can find the best path for you.

What Has Inspired Me To Become A Therapist:

I sat in one of my professor’s office my junior year in college to discuss an exam I had to retake due to a family emergency. As we began to talk our discussion quickly went from the psychology exam, to the family crisis I was facing, to where I wanted to go with my life and the type of therapist I wanted to be. I took everything on my mind at that moment and then began to unpack all of my life’s challenges. He began to tell me about marriage and family therapy and systems theories. It was music to my ears. I felt in that moment I had begun to understand my calling in life. As I went through college and graduate school life continued to happen which pushed me more and more into my passion for therapy and want to help people. It reminded me that we are all human and no one should face life’s struggles alone.

My Favorite Moments as a Therapist:

There is nothing more meaningful to me than watching my clients break down their walls, push their boundaries, and become the people they dreamed of being.
