Therapeutic Approach:
In addition to helping clients identify and acknowledge their strengths, I believe that understanding a client’s context is fundamental to collaboration with them. I believe that the stories about ourselves and our families influence our lives, particularly our beliefs about our relationships. Using techniques from Narrative Therapy, we can acknowledge the power of those stories and decide how we want to write our next chapter. Structural Family Therapy can help increase healthy communication between family members as they navigate through life cycle changes. For couple’s therapy, I enjoy utilizing the Gottman Method, which focuses on building friendship and love and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which validates emotions and uncovers the “dance” of the relationship.
My proudest accomplishments as therapist:
Helping clients uncover their inherent strengths and empowering them to create lasting change in themselves and their relationships! Any time I validate a strength or skill that has helped a client progress, that’s also validating the client’s growth.
What inspired me to become a therapist...
As someone who considers social and personal issues through an intersectional lens, I see therapy as an important source of empowerment. I consider helping people make positive changes in their lives and relationships can help them begin make positive changes in our communities.
“The goal of therapy should never be to help people adjust to oppression.” – Carmen Cool

What I know now for sure
Curiosity is the opposite of judgement! Every single client is different and I believe that providing a place where someone can feel free to discuss their lived experience is vital to begin the process of healing from past issues and trauma.
