Parenting the Fireflies: The Wonderful Years of Tweens
November 20, 2019 9:45-10:45am
Darien Nature Center-120 Brookside Road, Darien CT
Tweens are ages 9-12 or the "forgotten years"-years when parents describe their rapidly changing child with phrases like "he changed overnight" or "she is secretive" or "he has emotional outbursts for no reason" or "her friend group is more important than her family". Overnight it seems our children turn into new people we don't know. Tweens need to have people and places to feel safe and supported through these years because in reality, tweens are confused, too! Join Amanda Craig, Ph.D, LMFT as she walks us through this developmental milestone before puberty discussing ways to build emotional connection in the family and survival tips for this developmental stage.
